Dr Angela Mackie
Lecturer - Brush Up on Art History

Dr Angela Mackie has a Ph.D from the
University of Melbourne, an MA Hons from the University of Auckland
and a Teaching Diploma from the Italian University for Foreigners
in Perugia. She has lectured in Australia at the University of
Wollongong, the University of South Australia, Trinity College, and
the University of Melbourne.
Alessandro Parronchi, the twentieth century Florentine poet and
art-historian, was the subject of Dr Mackie's doctoral thesis. She
investigated the relationship between his art-historical works and
his poetry, and the way in which Parronchi used painterly
techniques in his verse.
Angela Mackie's effectiveness as a lecturer is due to a
blend of attributes: intelligence, a firm grasp of academic
principles and values, and a delightful and engaging
personality.
Dr Evan L. Burge ~ Warden 1974-97
Trinity College, University of Melbourne
Having completed the Renaissance, Boundless Baroque,
and the Romantic Rebellion courses, I felt the paintings, sculpture
and architecture truly came alive for me whilst re-visiting the
museums of Italy and France this year. The knowledge and
understanding I gained from these courses made all the difference
between looking and actually seeing. Thank you indeed.
